If you’re overwhelmed, fatigued and frustrated with trying to manage a business and still have enough energy left over to have a life too – you also know that things heat up (hot flashes among them!) in mid life – but that can be a great thing if you’re ready for it.  But if you aren’t in shape physically, emotionally and spiritually – you not only won’t enjoy what you’re doing – sooner or later you won’t be doing it!       

The good news you don’t need to be perfect………..just be powerful.

The biggest obstacle? YOU vs. YOU.

I’m Robin Stephens, Your Mid Life Fitness Coach and, and I’d like to ask you a question:

Are you a rhinestone or a diamond?  They both sparkle but only one

is authentic, strong, and precious.

I’ve talked to hundreds of women professionals and entrepreneurs – many of whom have a resigned if not outright negative attitude toward their “second act” of life.  I hear a lot of talk about aging being just  something that happens to us (like death and taxes I guess!) and all they can do is make the best of it. Whaaat?? 

That’s a victim mentality. It’s a “program” that stops you from playing bigger and living bigger and you have to STOP THINKING THAT WAY!

But you also have to stop doing a lot of other things too – like STOP replaying the past, pretending, denying and discounting! Seriously, where is that really going to get you?

I’m telling you that you may not see it right now from where you’re sitting but you CAN DEFINITELY have the healthy, fit body, radiant energy and purpose driven life you’ve imagined! And if you don’t stop RIGHT NOW and make yourself the FOCAL POINT of your life – both your business and your personal life are in real danger.  I know because I’ve done it!  I’ve been a solo business owner for over 12 years – most of which I spent putting my health and happiness on the back burner for the sake of the business –  just like my parents raised me to do, bless their hearts! 

And I began to wonder how I was going to continue doing what I loved and still have the energy to have some time for me (read: FUN??) at the end of the day.  I knew there were a lot of us out there wondering the same thing – I worked with them as a professional organizer and the question was always the same – “WHAT ABOUT ME??”  

Mid Life is NOT the END of Life! Be open to discover what’s next!

When I was in my 20’s I thought I’d super young forever. Everything related to health was manana – no worries, right? The arrogance of youth! I threw away my health like used tissues and didn’t revere the magnificent temple I was given – my body. And in my late 40’s (I was actually lucky I got that far!) I – who had NEVER had a health problem of any kind, aside from the usual colds and flu – had my body and hormones totally revolt in the worst uprising since the Revolutionary War! And right in the middle of all of it I was trying to run my new business, get divorced, be a single mom and somewhere in there, like Humpty Dumpty, try to “put Robin back together again.”

Long story short, after a huge pity party, depression, anger – and finally acceptance – I got busy.  I decided to make my “mess” my “message” and proclaim it to sassy, seasoned professional women like you who want radiant good health, energy, and their GROOVE BACK so you can run your business and your life with passion and real purpose.  And the secret isn’t dieting, working out 4 hours a day or spending precious time counting, weighing or measuring.  It’s simply a matter of YOU vs. YOU.

When I conceived the idea for MidLifeFitchicks.com, I was recovering from the breakup of a 24 year marriage. I was 44 years old, a single mom, an entrepreneur with NO business experience and on top of everything I’d just started peri-menopause. Talk about changes!! I was constantly exhausted and lethargic. I didn’t even feel like ME anymore, but I couldn’t figure out what had happened. I went to doctors, read books, took classes and finally got the V-8 slap on the forehead – I was me – but I wasn’t me anymore, and it was up to ME to reclaim me! My business was draining me and I failed to realize for a long time that the very thing I loved doing was sucking the life out of me.   It took me 6 years to create the vision of an online women’s health coaching resource – but it’s finally my most cherished reality! 

I wanted to reach out to other women in my age group and let them know that our “second act” has the potential to be an absolute MASTERPIECE! Youth is great, but it ain’t over till it’s over – and you’re totally WRONG if you think your best body, life, and spirit got thrown out with the over 40 party favors. When you’re living your vision of a healthy lifestyle you’re filled with energy and a unique creative spark. You’re operating at peak performance – brilliantly connected from the inside out – and you inspire others with your passion and confidence.

But your success depends on how you handle YOU. You have to make the time and do the work. My personal trainer used to say, “If you’ve got 5 minutes a day, I’ll find a way for you to get the most out of those 5 minutes. But one thing I can’t do for you is get you the 5 minutes. You have to do that yourself.”

That’s why I asked you the question at the beginning of this page – Are you a rhinestone or a diamond?  The rhinestone sparkles just like the diamond – but it’s all on the outside.  One good whack and it crushes into dust.  A diamond on the other hand, starts like as  a humble piece of coal – but time and intense pressure transforms it into a strong, beautiful, precious jewel.  Hmmmm. . .

So I’ll ask you – can you make the time for small but consistent baby steps that over time will transform you into the diamond you know you area?  Are you ready to create REAL change and get results that will put you back on top of your game? It could be a beautiful piece of art, a dramatic view or a strategically placed piece of furniture. Once you’ve got the focal point everything else falls gracefully into place.

  • You’re delivering the message you came here to deliver.

I guess my point is that regardless of how well or hard we age, none of us escape it. It’s happening to ALL of us as we speak – so how are you going to choose to react? I used to rail at the passing years until I realized that I had already lived more of my life than I had left! I am no longer willing to waste one precious moment – and neither should you! It’s good to look as good as you can – and diet, exercise and managing stress are important. But more important is gaining strength and power from our age and our experiences.

You’ll do battle with YOU vs. YOU – when old habits and negative attitudes surface. And they will. And sometimes, as a former boss of mine used to say, “you get the big ol’ bear and sometimes the big ol’ bear gets you.” But it’s not about perfection, it’s about PERSISTENCE. And that’s what puts you closer to that joyful, confident, energetic woman you know you are.

The truth is, when you get your MIND in shape, your body and your environment will follow – not the other way around.
